American Association of Suicidology

The American Association of Suicidology encourages further study in the field of suicidology by clinicians as well as the general public. The AAS states their mission is to encompass advanced study into suicidology as a field of science, educate the public in efforts to reduce the number of suicides worldwide, analyze and break down suicidal behaviors, and promote further research and training in the growing field of suicidology. The AAS hosts a campaign for both National Suicide Prevention Month and Week as well as public awareness campaigns to introduce new research and preventative measures for people who are currently dealing or have dealt with suicidal thoughts and behaviors. The AAS offers handbooks for suicide survivors and their friends and families to promote healing and a better understanding of suicidal triggers and causes.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)

ASIST is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid. Participants learn to recognize when someone may be at risk of suicide and respond in ways that help increase their immediate safety and link them to further help. ASIST aims to enhance a caregiver’s abilities to help a person at risk avoid suicide. There are several organizations that facilitate this training.

Faithfully K9- project hope

Through Project HOPE, Faithfully K9 Service Dogs trains dogs belonging to First Responders to be skilled companions - to help to mitigate anxiety, depression, distress and negative thoughts as a result of trauma experienced from being a first responder. These dogs do not have public access but instead work in the home. We can help First Responders find a dog if they don’t already have a dog.

Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers - USA

The Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers-USA (FCPO) brings hope to those without hope in the law enforcement community. We are an organization dedicated to ministering to the spiritual and emotional needs of the 1.1 million local, state and federal law enforcement officers in the United States. With 250 chapters across the nation, the FCPO brings Christian officers together, discipling, challenging, and equipping them to reach their fellow officers for Christ. Because of the common bond shared by those in law enforcement, FCPO members are often able to share their faith with colleagues considered "hard to reach" by others in the Christian community.

Law Enforcement Suicide Prevention and Awareness

Law enforcement agencies are shaken to the core with the death of one of their own. The response is even more complex when that death comes at the officer's own hand. IACP has long recognized there is an urgent and ongoing need for leadership on the issue of employee suicide prevention and awareness.

Officer Down Memorial Page

The Officer Down Memorial Page, Inc., (ODMP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring America's fallen law enforcement officers. More than 24,000 officers have died in the line of duty in the United States since 1776 and ODMP is honored to preserve their memories and give friends, family, other officers, and citizens alike the opportunity to remember the fallen and honor their sacrifices.

Peace Officer Ministries

We know that law enforcement officers daily engage in difficult and dangerous work. They are exposed to very high risk physically, emotionally, relationally, and spiritually. These officers need our support. Sometimes we too, the people they faithfully serve, unfortunately experience crises. Law enforcement chaplains help everyone, especially during difficult and dangerous times.

Peace Officer Ministries, Inc. (P.O.M.) is a Christian law enforcement chaplaincy ministry that provides direct help during these times of trouble. P.O.M. also serves as a chaplaincy resource for officers, chaplains, police agencies, churches, and communities. We provide spiritual care, consulting, training, and written materials (including a special edition tactical Bible for officers). P.O.M. is a charter member of the Association of Lutheran Mission Agencies, and is a referral organization for Focus on the Family.
