Chaplain Safety and De-escalation Training

We have partnered with SSRF to offer a course on Chaplain Safety and De-escalation. As Chaplains we are placed in volatile situations where we need to know how to keep ourselves safe, not be a liability to our emergency responders, and be better prepared in our everyday lives.

Chaplain Safety & De-escalation for Chaplains is designed to accomplish three goals:
1) Introducing the "officer safety mindset" ingrained in every police officer in order for them to safely go about their daily duties.

2) Prepare chaplains for actively participating in ride-alongs and supporting the officer rather than being a liability the officer must protect.

3) Understand what officer's mentally work through when engaging an unstable person with the goal to de-escalate them. This helps you better support them and should you need to help de-escalate a situation in your personal situations or help an officer at their request, you will be better prepared to do so.

Understanding the survival mindset, what de-escalation is, and how to best support the officer during a ride-along, will build credibility and trust in both the individual chaplain and the chaplain program.  This training will include practical scenarios designed to make you think however, this is NOT a defensive tactics or personal protection course.
